Exciting Digital Learning News

During lockdown we received some exciting news!  Back in the Autumn,    Mr Soulsby applied for a community grant to Avanti West Coast for a project called “Equipping Children for the Digital World and Beyond”. The initial funding received over 40 applications seeking over £4million.

Unfortunately, we were not successful in our original bid but Avanti were so impressed with the project proposal that they have agreed, in partnership with ‘Community Rail Cumbria’ to fund our project which will provide 112 new iPads, trolleys and cases. These will allow our children to use their iPads to expand their knowledge of the railway and educate potential passengers and employees of the future.

This is an exciting opportunity and we are very grateful to Avanti West Coast and Community Rail Cumbria for providing this. During the Autumn term we will begin our partnership with them and there will be lots of opportunities to link our learning to the railways, sustainably, and much, much more!  We hope that each class will be able to visit the station and travel on a train using their iPads to research this and design projects and activities to develop what is hoped to be a sustained partnership.

Thank you to everyone who has made this possible!
