COVID-19 Update (17.3.20 15:00)

Dear Parents and Carers

Thank you for all your support at this challenging time for families and our community.

As you know, North Lakes School will remain open until we are advised otherwise. We are talking to the children about the importance of handwashing and personal hygiene, and all are aware of the need to pay special attention to this.

We are limiting the number of visitors to school, allowing essential visits only, and running checks on those visitors. We have stopped school visits for the time being. As things stand, there have been no confirmed cases of the Coronavirus at North Lakes School.

We will continue to provide updates as the advice changes and the situation develops: please do keep in touch with the latest news. Our latest information remains that if anyone in your household has shown symptoms of the virus, (a high temperature and/or new, continuous cough) – then your family should self-isolate for 14 days. Any children or staff displaying symptoms in school will be asked to go home and to self-isolate.

We are also working with other schools in Penrith and the Eden Valley to share information, and have set up our own information “hub” on the Frog Portal, here: https://thepenrithhub-cumbria.frogos.net/covid-19

We are aware that many children and families will have vulnerable members, who may have underlying medical conditions such as asthma, diabetes, etc. In these cases, even without symptoms, if you have any concerns we would advise you to contact your GP for further advice.

We appreciate that these are very difficult times for everyone. Please be assured that we all have the same essential aim which is to keep our children and families safe and well. All children, families and staff will be respected in the decisions that they make about attending school. You must do what you think is best, especially if there are underlying health conditions.

To provide for children at home we are working to put learning resources in place online for all those families who have internet access. Please see the attached guidance for more details of this. For those families without internet access, we will be looking to provide some materials in hard copy as required.

If your children are already at home, please continue to access FrogLearn, Sumdog, Times Tables Rock Stars and Lexia (if appropriate) for the time being. Please read widely and feel free to respond to all of the activities on the World Book Day site on Frog.

Please keep us up to date as to how you all are and what you decide. Look after yourselves and take care of each other!

Yours sincerely

Mr M Pincombe
