On Wednesday 9 November North Lakes School were at the forefront of the ceremonies around the opening of the Penrith Sainsbury’s store in the New Squares. Over 60 children entered a competition to produce a poster promoting exercise and fitness to support the Sainsbury’s Active Kids campaign. Seven children were highly commended in this competition along with two runners up, Meredith M and Chloe D.
The overall winner Amelia T was chosen to cut the ceremonial ribbon with Joan Raine, the leader of Eden District Council.
Throughout the event, North Lakes School Choir provided an excellent musical backdrop, performing songs such as “The Bare Necessities” and “Samba Harvest”, and the children received many compliments from the public. Well done to all the children involved in the competition and in the events on the day.
Thanks too to Patrick Wragg of Sainsbury’s for his support, including the provision of sports kit, equipment and also for providing very helpful repairs to the school’s fence on Huntley Avenue!
