Chess Club (Spring 2015)
Our Chess Club took part in the Penrith Area Junior Schools Chess League at Ullswater Community College at the beginning of February. Megan, Chloe, Jack and Harrison represented school at the Chess tournament. Accompanied by Mrs Phillips they were great ambassadors and represented our school superbly. They all won and lost matches, but they agreed that the ‘taking part’ is what they had enjoyed the most.
Children from schools within Eden all participated and there were some very good strategic players! All of our players felt the pressure during the afternoon as they had to focus and be attentive to every move their opponents made. The club members are a credit to our school and great ambassadors and role models as they compete with fairness and enthusiasm. Mr Southernwood runs a chess club each Monday evening from 4pm at Ullswater Community College. He would welcome any new players. Please drop in!
