Chess Club runs each lunchtime in school and anyone is welcome, from absolute beginners to total grand masters. Anyone who wants to come in and have a go can see Jay, who runs it, and then can organise a session. If you are a beginner, and you want to learn how to play chess then Jay is always happy to help and will explain everything to you.
Last term the Chess Club had a competition at Ullswater Community College. We had two teams of four people and were up against some tough players. We all had three games each, and altogether we played twenty-four games. We won seven games and, most importantly, we all had great fun!
On Monday nights, from 3.45 to 7pm, Penrith Chess Club meets at UCC in room W76 - just drop in as it suits you. Everyone is welcome, at any age from 8 to 80 years, and you can learn some great strategies to checkmate your opponent for e.g. the box, castling etc.
