Promoting Positive Behaviour & Anti Bullying
Positive Behaviour and Emotional Well-being
In our school, we believe that children flourish when home and school work collaboratively. Prioritising emotional development as per Maslow's 'Hierarchy of Need' and building children's self-esteem, we enable our children to grow into confident, responsible and caring young people. Creating a positive climate for learning is central to this. And our staff use recognised support approaches, including Emotional Literacy and Decider Skills, to ensure that our children's emotional needs are met within a safe and understanding environment to enable them to be ready to access the curriculum. Our staff are skilled in supporting individual learning and behavioural needs.
Working in Partnership with Families
Each year, our children and their parents and carers are invited to sign our homeschool agreement as part of our shared commitment to supporting children's well-being and learning. Our Positive behaviour policy, available on the school website, outlines how we encourage positive choices and celebrate success. Through our school rules, assemblies and PSHE curriculum, expectations are made clear so that children understand their responsibilities and learn to take ownership of their actions.
Encouraging positive choices.
We recognise and reward positive behaviour, effort, and kindness. When behaviour falls short of expectations, we respond in a fair, calm and consistent way. Any sanction is directed at the behaviour and not at the child. Children are supported to reflect on their choices and consider how they may make better decisions in the future.
Working together when challenges arise.
If a child's behaviour becomes a persistent concern or a serious issue arises, we work closely with parents and carers to understand the situation and agree on the most supportive way forward. By working together, we ensure that every child receives the support they need to succeed, both emotionally and academically.
"Staff are particularly skilled at supporting individual learning and behavioural needs."
