Y5 Science Session at UCC (July 13)

Year 5 worked with Science teachers at UCC on a problem solving exercise. We got to work in real laboratories and used special solutions and test tubes!! One of our activities involved us wearing goggles for protection, so we became very aware of health and safety in a laboratory.

The first task was to identify DNA in a strawberry - and we really did it!! The second task involved making a container to carry an egg as it was dropped from a great height. There were certain specifications! None of our eggs survived. Sean H brought more information on DNA into school, it was just amazing to read which creatures, vegetables and fruit had DNA common with a human!
An eggscellent , eggciting afternoon was had by all! Thanks to UCC.
