Thank You and Good Luck, Mrs Knox (March 2015)

When Mrs Knox announced that she had decided to retire at the end of this term, there was a universal reaction of surprise and dismay. Jackie Knox has given so much to North Lakes School and for so long that she seems absolutely a part of the school. More than that, Jackie actually represents what North Lakes School is all about- she embodies our values.

Her enormous generosity, kindness, patience, forgiveness and empathy have had such a positive impact on the lives of so many children and staff, and with her sharp sense of humour she will be sorely missed. Jackie has worked at North Lakes School for over 21 years, and she has supported the community with great energy throughout that time, in various roles as a parent, midday supervisor, teaching assistant, clerical/admin assistant and a governor.

When our current children were asked what they thought about Mrs Knox, their comments were instant and heartfelt – (and far too many to include here!) - so here is a selection:

“She’s amazing, really helpful… She looks out for us all… She is always there for us… Mrs Knox gives people the things they need… She helps people in ‘situations’… When I get angry she helps me… She is kind, loving and sweet… Never in a bad mood… Always pleased to see us… Mrs Knox will do anything to help… She’s a legend… Reliable… She cares!

Jackie is looking forward to her retirement and being able to spend a lot more time with her family including her grandchildren, while having more time for her own interests. She still fronts her locally renowned band, and with “The Good Time Boys” now having more time to rehearse than ever Mrs Knox looks forward to many gigs with them.

We wish Jackie every happiness in a long and fun filled retirement and children, staff and governors are all agreed: North Lakes School will simply not be the same place without her. Thank you Mrs Knox, come back and see us, and good luck!
