Swimming Galas (Summer 2013)

On Friday 14th June, the Year 3/4 swimming team went along to the Eden Valley Sports Partnership swimming gala at Penrith Leisure centre.

The competition ran for two hours and we all competed in at least 2 races. There were 7 other schools competing from around the
Penrith District. All our races were over 25m lengths. We swam either freestyle, breaststroke or backstroke. We felt exited and we all had butterflies in our tummies. It was great fun and Miss Hayes said we all performed brilliantly! And we even made it into the Herald!

Elliot came 1st in the boys 25m Breaststroke. Keeley came 1st in the 25m backstroke, Abbie came in 2nd in the 25m freestyle and Ellie came 3rd in the 25m breaststroke. We can't wait to do it all again next year!

Keeley and Megan

Saturday 15th June saw North Lakes School complete in the annual Penrith Swimming Club schools gala. It was a fun packed, exhausting evening for all our representatives. Every single member of our swimming team gave it all they'd got in each race and we narrowly missed out on being placed in the top 3 in many of the races.

NLS team were well supported and cheered on by one of the loudest crowds on the balcony, who gave constant encouragement and motivation by cheering our team on!

The most exciting part of the evening was the race where only children from NLS competed to win the much coveted Margaret Wilson Cup. Keeley, Abbie, Maisie, Toby and Lauren made it through to the final - Maisie just pipping Toby to the post to win! Well done, Maisie! And well done to the entire team who represented NLS with grit, determination and resilience- Lauren, Abbie, Keeley, Tegan, Molly, Jessica, Toby, James, Kennadie and Annie. Thanks also goes to Mrs Clark who supported Miss Hayes in organising the event.
