Say Hello & Wave Goodbye [July 2018]

Just before half term we received news that Mrs Smith will be leaving us in September as she has gained promotion to the role of Deputy Headteacher at a school near Carlisle. We are pleased for her and we wish her every success and happiness in her new role. Mrs Smith has worked hard over the past three and a half years and offered strong leadership in English, inspiring many children to develop a real love for writing, and working with many staff  to develop our skills. Thank you very much Mrs Smith, and the very best of luck with your new challenge!

Sadly, this summer we will also be saying farewell to Miss Bland, Mrs Rankin and Mrs Ewbank.  Miss Bland has taught alongside Mr Soulsby in Rydal Water for the last two years and has brought some really valuable skills to our team. She has been a valued part of the staff with her experience, creativity and her calm manner, and the children have loved her guidance in developing their art work. She leaves us to resume a full time role at Beaconside and so we hope to still work closely with her. Thank you Miss Bland, and see you soon!

Mrs Rankin has given a great deal of time to North Lakes over the past two and a half years, first on placement and then working as a Teaching Assistant. She has been a great support to many pupils, both in Grasmere and many other classes, and her kindness and patience have made her appreciated by children and staff alike. Mrs Rankin now has a permanent post at a nearby village school. Thank you Mrs Rankin, and the best of luck in your new role!

Mrs Ewbank worked as a Teaching Assistant from 2014 until this Easter when she has taken time out to be with her family. We have all missed Mrs Ewbank this term, with her very caring manner – she always took the time to listen and understand every individual child, and gave real support to children when they needed it. Thank you, Mrs Ewbank, and good luck for the future!

In September, we will be joined by two new teachers. Miss Swinbank will work join us in Year 6, and we look forward to getting to know her in the new Bassenthwaite Class. Miss Little will be working with the new Elterwater class in September, and she has already met her Year 5 class on Transition Day - welcome, Miss Little!

Additionally, we are pleased that Miss Sally Johnstone will continue working with us in September. She has

settled well into Windermere class since Easter and she will continue to play an important part in our Y3&4 team next year.  Another Teaching Assistant will also join our team in September. We look forward to getting to know Mrs Susan Woakes as she help us to support and challenge our learners in the new school term. Good luck, and welcome to North Lakes School, Mrs Woakes!
