Primary Carols for Christmas (Dec 2015)

Once again Christmas celebrations at North Lakes began with the annual Penrith Schools’ Music Association Carol Festival at St Andrew’s Church which in 2015 celebrated its 31st year!

North Lakes brought a 30 strong Y5&6 Christmas Choir who gave a ‘Platinum’ performance, having worked so hard through most of their lunchtimes and at home over the past few weeks. This year’s carol ‘Whisper of the Wind’ was written for us by Jilly Jarman and accompanied by Ollie, Josh, Maddie E, Maddie B and Matt on Bass, Flute, Clarinet and Drums. It also featured a solo by Joe.

The Carol Festival is a unique collaborative, non-competitive event which celebrates the musical talents in everyone regardless of ability. Our children were, once again, a credit to the school and great ambassadors for Sing Up.  You can listen to their performance on the school website.

North Lakes would like to thank everyone who came along to support the children: parents, governors, and staff; not forgetting everyone who made this event possible and Lakeland Music for selling tickets and St Andrew’s Church for hosting the event.

In response to the devastating Cumbrian Floods prior to the festival, a bucket collection was held after the two concerts, with an amazing £1700 being raised for the Cumbria Foundation Flood Recovery Fund.  Anyone wishing to donate to this fund can do so via the PSMA Flood Fund link with all donations going to the recovery fund.
