In October we were very lucky to be able to welcome Sara Stanley, author of 'But Why!' and 'Why Think?' into school to work with our teachers on Philosophy for Children.
She spent two days training teachers from North Lakes as well as other teachers who travelled from as far as Lancashire to take part. On her third day, Sara worked with Rydal Water where they explored concepts in the Kate Greenaway award winning book 'I Want by Hat Back'.
With Elterwater she explored 'A Huge Bag of Worries', relating it to our Victorian topic and in Ullswater class she explored Vikings and Dragons!
Over the next two terms every class will be developing their Philosophy and we will be submitting our application to become a Sapere Gold School for Philosophy for Children. We have all really enjoyed reading your contributions to the children's thinking journals and thank you for your continued support.
