Meet our French Twin! (Spring 2016)

In January North Lakes School was twinned by the British Council with “Ecole Rene Gerard”, a primary school in the village of Lehaucourt near St Quentin in north east France. Mr Pincombe travelled out to an event in Amiens and had the chance to meet Mme Bertille Remoleux who if the Headteacher at Ecole Rene Gerard.  All of our children have compiled their own passports and sent these to Lehaucourt, while we have also received “les passeports” from the French students.

This exciting link is the first stage of our amazing Somme Centenary Project. Over the coming weeks we will be working together with students in Lehaucourt on a shared Art, French and History project. In the Summer term our whole school will be exploring the story of the Lonsdale Pals, a local battalion which fought on the Somme 100 years ago. Then, at the end of June, 28 children

from Years 5 and 6 will travel out to meet some French pupils and take part in the Centenary event at Thiepval. Look out for more exciting developments with this, involving all our pupils next term!

More details of the project and the Somme Centenary are available on the school website.
