Kwik Cricket Competitions (Summer 2014)

During the Summer term, Y5&6 children have been involved in Kwik Cricket Tournaments in Penrith and Egremont.

On a sunny day in June we attended the Penrith schools competition at Penrith Cricket Club. Nigel Fowles coached the A team, comprised of Harrison F, Lewis W, Nathan L, Ben V, Evan S, Shay A, Toby S and James E.

They worked really hard as a team, supporting each other and applying all of their cricket skills, taught by Jonny during lessons at school and also practised when playing for Penrith cricket club.

They played Stainton, Langwathby and Beaconside and beat them all! During the semi final they beat Calthwaite, so qualified for the final against Greystoke - last year's champions. North Lakes ended up winning by 27 runs! Eden champions once again!

North Lakes B team also performed very well. Trey, Taylor E, Megan, Jack MG, Cameron, Daniel, Bradley S and Jordon supported each other and worked hard on their teamwork. They lost their first game against Stainton (by only 7 runs) then went on the beat Patterdale and Skelton, finishing second in their group.

A week later it was the girls’ turn, heading to Nunwick for their  competition: Megan, Abbie B, Ruby, Emily, Amy, Lainey, Ella and Mia. The girls improved so much over the day of matches. North Lakes beat Clifton and Stainton B and drew with Appleby. We qualified for the semi-finals and faced Long Marton - who we beat. In the final we played Appleby for a second time and unfortunately lost. Luckily for us, the top 2 teams went through to the County Final! We headed to Egremont for the final and played very well as a team, representing Eden against some excellent Cumbrian teams. Well done, girls!
