Julia Donaldson Masterclass (Nov 2012)
Ten of our Year 3 students were very lucky to represent our school at a wonderful event organised by Penrith Library. Julia Donaldson, 
the famous children’s author, was travelling on her Children’s Laureate tour and chose to make a visit to Penrith on the way. Along with a number of other local schools, North Lakes was invited to Penrith Library for a few hours of sheer entertainment from the award winning writer. We worked together with Penruddock School on a short presentation and delivered some thoughtful questions on one of Julia's books, "A Squash and a Squeeze".
The audience were entertained by some philosphical thoughts from the children and were left thinking about the issues we raised. Julia, sang, recited and acted out some of her well known tales of “The Gruffalo”, “Monkey Puzzle” and “Tiddler”. She was amazing and really showed us why she is a successful children's author. Tia E said afterwards, ‘The Look North team were there and many of the North Lakers ended up on the local news!’. At the end of the event Julia stayed a while and chatted to the children as well as signing books for us all.
