Hunter Hall Cross Country Event (Feb 2017)

The 8th February was a dry but chilly Wednesday afternoon, when 27 Primary Schools from the Eden Valley met at Frenchfield Park for the 10th annual Cross Country event. Around 400 children from Years 3 to 6 completed the event on a challenging and undulating course.

North Lakes School took 34 boys and girls all kitted out in their smart new school running vests. Mrs Greenwood was well organised and along with helpers walked the children round the course prior to the start.

First off were the Y3&4 girls followed by Y3&4 boys - they all ran fantastically and were cheered and applauded down the finishing straight.

These races were followed by the Y5&6 girls, and finally the Y5/6 boys. The girls’ team of Lexi H, Katie G, Katie W and Amy T did brilliantly and were awarded 3rd overall team place at the presentation.

Year 5&6 boys had 4 teams running, with the team of Thomas R (1st), Jackson (5th) Ellis (20th) and Ben E (31st) taking the winners’ shield as first placed U11 boys team.  What an amazing achievement!

All the children from North Lakes School demonstrated what determined and talented children we truly are!  The great afternoon was finished off with hot chocolate and cake, which was kindly provided by Hunter Hall School, who deserve great credit for organising such a wonderful event.
